24 Hour Skee-A-Thon Fundraiser
Sure, there’s a lot of partying and joking around that’s built in as part of the fun of being a member of the SkeeNation family. But when sh*t hits home, you better believe we’re gonna come together and help some of those family members out.
As many of you are already aware, Liam Fudge was recently diagnosed with cancer and has begun chemo treatments. Liam is the 9-month-old son of Dawn and Brian “The Candyman” Fudge, who have both played in the league for years now.
In exactly one month (January 14th-15th), we’ll be hosting a 24 hour skee-a-thon to raise money for the Fudge Family. So get pumped up because this is going to be an awesome event for an awesome cause. All of the details can be found below….
Alright, here’s the deal. 24 hours of skeeball. Each hour will be captained by a skeelebrity and a theme chosen for that hour. 6 rollers per lane per hour, just like a league match. I’m rolling all 24 hours, and each hour will have a captain, so we’re already down to 5 rollers per lane.
You can sign up to be a captain (the only thing you really have to do is pick a theme and keep your rollers pumped up for that hour), a regular roller, or you can roll as a team. Check out the spreadsheet below and email [email protected] with what time slot you would like. Click on the link below to see the spreadsheet (sheet will be updated every day, so sign up early if you have a specific time in mind.)

Our goal is to hit 1,000,000 skeeball points within 24 hours. I quickly crunched the numbers and if each rollers averags 300 points per game, that would be 3,000 per roller per hour, or 36,000 points per hour. Over 24 hours that would bring us to 864,000 points total. But I know we have some amazing rollers in this league, and I have no doubt that we can hit 1,000,000 points.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Where can I read more about Liam and the Fudge’s?
To follow Liam through his treatment and learn more about the fabulous Fudge family, check out their blog: http://briananddawnfudge.blogspot.com/
Q: Can I roll more than once in the 24 hour period?
Yes, time slots are $10/hour ( $1/game just like a typical skeeball match) and are available on a first come first serve basis. Also, if you’d like to roll with your specific friends or skeemates during a certain hour, again make sure you claim a spot early. I have a feeling these spots are going to be gobbled up pretty quick.
Q: Can my family and friends who live out of town donate to the cause?
Yes, they can sponsor you to roll several times, or we’ll also have donation jars out during the event for folks to make donations without rolling. Also, you can donate to Liam’s fund via their blog, just click on the Donate button (see above for link to their blog).
Q: Why is the event 5am Friday to 5am Saturday instead of Saturday to Sunday?
We have a few TV channels coming out early Friday morning to cover the kick-off and put the word out for us. They’ll be looping the footage and story throughout the day. We’re hoping this brings more folks who aren’t necessarily in the league out to the bar to cheer on rollers and donate some money. I understand that a lot of folks won’t be able to make it during the Friday 9-5 hours, but again we’re hoping that initial news coverage brings in more public awareness.
Q: I want to be a captain but don’t have any ideas for the theme. Help?
The theme can be whatever you’d like. I’ve heard some really cool ideas (pajama party, santa claus hour, Saved by the Bell Hour, etc etc), so claim yours early!
Q: Is this really going to be 24 hours straight in a bar?
Yes, Jackalope Jacks has been gracious enough to open their doors for 24 hours for us. There will be no booze for the final 3 hours of the event (read: nothing after 2am), but there will be food, couches, plenty of water and juice, etc etc. It’s going to be a huge 24 hour party for a great cause!
Q: I don’t live in Charlotte, how can I help out?
Well, you could always come on up for the weekend and roll! We’ll be partying and rolling through the night…and I can’t even imagine what the post party is going to be like, so come on up/down for the night/weekend. Or you can sponsor a roller for an hour, or donate directly to the Fudge’s blog.
Q: How do I sign up?
Please email [email protected] to sign up or for further info.
